On the top level of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris there a somewhat narrow little room, the back of which held a table with tour guides and art books on my last visit, and out the other side holds this peek-a-boo view toward the Sacré-Coeur basilica. The Musée d'Orsay was originally a railroad station, the Gare d'Orsay, and is itself as impressive as any of the paintings or sculpture it contains.

It just dawned on me that since this is a photography blog I should probably start posting some photography! OK, actually I have been planning to do this for quite awhile , but I and am just now getting around to it.
I believe this image is my favorite from my trip to Paris last October. The city is amazing, one of the most beautiful in the world. You can not comprehend the art and architecture of Paris without having been there, and you can't cover it all in just one trip. It still amazes me that I have been to Paris three times now and definitely plan to go back, yet I have only scratched the surface. ![]() Labels: black and white photography, Paris Thursday, April 10, 2008ASPP Panel Discussion on Licensing Stock Photography
I guess this might be old news to some (it came out Oct 16th), but I just ran onto it today so it's new to me.
For anyone interested in licensing stock photography, the American Society of Picture Professionals (West Chapter) held a panel discussion with several photo buyers called "Stock License and Prices -- A Buyer's Perspective". You can download the audio from their website. There are three MP3 files to download. It was a great discussion and a great vote of confidence for those of us who license rights-managed photography. http://www.aspp.com/pages/146/145/0/ Labels: llicensing, stock photography Virtual Studio Tour
Whether in person or online I'm always fascinated with seeing photographer's studios. It's always neat to see how other photographers have their work environment setup, how their studio lights are arranged and what kind their using, what their digital darkroom looks like, etc. Jim Talkington of Daylight Photo has posted yet another great video giving you a behind the scenes tour of his studio. Check it out.

For anyone wanting to try some do-it-yourself product or still-life photography, this is a great video from Jim Talkington of Daylight Photo studio in Cincinnati. It also shows you why you need to start assembling a "stick in a concrete bucket" collection:
